A Message from the President:
Alpha Chi Omega is an organization about you: unique, talented, genuine women looking for a fun and meaningful way to enhance your college experience. It's also about strength in numbers through the 230,000 real, strong women who stand by your side, cheer you on and lead you to a lifetime of fun, fulfillment, leadership and inspiration. Whether wearing the lyre badge with pride during a ritual ceremony, volunteering at a women’s shelter or networking with sisters across the country to land your dream job, Alpha Chi Omega is a chance to be your authentic self, while surrounded by sisters who are just as unique. The first chapter of Alpha Chi Omega was founded on October 15, 1885, at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. At a time when women were just beginning to occupy seats in college classrooms, seven female students were encouraged by Professor James Hamilton Howe, dean of DePauw’s School of Music, to form a women’s society within the school. Our seven founders sought “friendship, artistic society and advancement of the ‘principles of true womanhood,” thus our fraternity was born. Tau Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega was founded at Brenau University on November 24, 1911. We are at the forefront of women’s fraternal organizations as we strive to position our members for success both today and in the future. Our mission is to enrich the lives of members through lifetime opportunities of friendship, leadership, learning and service. We aim to serve and support the educational and philanthropic purposes of Alpha Chi Omega through effective fundraising. Our philanthropy is two-fold, where the money we donate goes to raising awareness against domestic violence (DVA), and the McDowell Colony, an organization that supports struggling artists. Currently, we have pledged $10,000 to help Gateway build a new building to better serve Hall County. We are so passionate about our Philanthropy, sisterhood, and all of the leadership opportunities given within Alpha Chi Omega! A-Chi-O is ecstatic to welcome you to Brenau University and cannot wait to meet all of you wonderful women during Recruitment! |
