A Message from the President:
I would like to extend the warmest welcome to you as you join our beloved Women's College community at Brenau University. Our school is truly one of a kind and filled with so many historic traditions. I cannot wait for you to experience the deep sisterhood that extends not only throughout the entire campus but especially in Greek life. Phi Mu was founded on March 4, 1852 at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. It began as the Philomathean Society, adopting the Greek letters of Phi Mu in 1904, and is the second oldest secret society for women in the nation. Since its founding, Phi Mu has provided personal and academic development, service to others, commitment to excellence, and lifelong friendship through a shared tradition. Phi Mu promotes vibrant living, encouraging members to achieve their personal best. The open motto for Phi Mu is “Les Soeurs Fideles” meaning “The Faithful Sisters,” and our purpose is found in the principles of love, honor, and truth. Mu chapter was founded at Brenau University on October 8, 1910, and is the oldest continuously running chapter of Phi Mu to date. Some fun facts about Mu chapter are that both the writer of Phi Mu’s creed and the creator of our mascot, “Sir Fidel,” were Mu chapter alumnae. Members of Phi Mu distinguish themselves through their commitment to leadership, philanthropy, community involvement, and loyalty to one another. Phi Mu’s national philanthropy is Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH). To benefit this organization, Mu chapter holds many fundraisers throughout the year. Some of our favorite fundraisers are our Chick-Fil-A Biscuit sale and our Krispy Kreme donut sale. On campus, our sisters are heavily involved in many sports teams and extracurricular activities. Our sisters are seen in various clubs, such as Student Government Association, on both the GTA and the Dance Department stage, and on almost every sports team. The sisters of Phi Mu are accomplishing so much, all while being academically motivated and earning their degrees. When you visit Phi Mu, you will experience the passion, enthusiasm, and support Phi Mu continuously offer each other and its surrounding community. Phi Mu welcomes you to Brenau and is beyond excited to meet you during recruitment! |
